About us

Founded in 2016 in Montpellier by Diego Escobar, ArtCan Gallery moved a year later to Marseille, under the leadership of Nicolas Maillefert.

ArtCan Gallery supports artists from Contemporary Art as well as Urban Contemporary Art, thus opening a bridge between two worlds, too long separated. From Guillaume Grando “Supakitch”, to L’Atlas via Franck Noto “Zest” or even Levalet and SPYK… our artistic direction sets no limits except that of the strength of the works and their discourse.

To present the artists to as many people as possible, we have created a showroom in Paris since 2020. In the same spirit, the opening in September 2022 of a new gallery in Brussels will mark a crucial step in the expansion of ArtCan as Extend Gallery in partnership with Buronzu Gallery.

ArtCan Gallery promotes and defends its artists internationally through exhibitions, publications, and fairs. The exhibitions presented in Marseille and Brussels come from an independent program but with a common guideline.

The team

Diego Escobar, for whom graffiti and Urban Art are in addition to a passion, a driving force. First through multiple acquisitions and brokerages of works of art, then in the various functions he had occupied in European auction houses such as Sotheby’s London, Galartis Lausanne and Tajan Paris.
Nicolas Maillefert has been passionate for a long time about the world of old school graffiti and Urban Art. A collector with a keen eye, he has never stopped looking for aesthetics and avant-gardism, whether in his professional life or personal collection.
